Service
I enjoy sharing knowledge and experience and contributing positively to the community. I have served for several years as a mentor in Columbia Engineering’s IEOR Alumni Mentorship Program, advising students interested in academic and quantitative research careers, and participated as a panelist for the CBS summer research interns. Within my department, I co-organized the PhD reading group in 2024 and 2025 with Sonakshi Agrawal.
Beyond Columbia, I serve as a moderator of ChaseDream, the largest Chinese forum for business school applications, where I co-host annual online panels on Accounting PhD applications with Scott Wang (2023, 2024, 2025). These panels feature faculty and incoming PhD students, with invited speakers including Rick Mergenthaler and students admitted to top programs.
Riverdale
I live in Riverdale, a quiet and scenic neighborhood in the northmost of NYC that offers a rare balance between proximity to the city and access to nature. I have especially enjoyed sunsets over the New Jersey Palisades from Riverdale Park, the dramatic meeting of the Hudson River and Spuyten Duyvil Creek from the Henry Hudson Bridge, the autumn foliage at Inwood Hill Park, and the open meadows of Van Cortlandt Park.
I enjoy hiking and trail running locally and throughout the Hudson Valley. On weekends, I often take Metro-North or drive north for outdoor activities. One of my favorite routines is starting Saturday mornings with a long trail run, often covering around ten miles, with preferred routes including the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park.
Calligraphy
Growing up in a Chinese cultural environment, I began practicing Chinese calligraphy in childhood. Although I have practiced less since studying abroad, my interest in the arts remains strong and wide-ranging. My training focuses on standard script (楷体), small seal script (小篆), and traditional Chinese seal engraving (篆刻). I am a member of the Calligraphers Association of Henan Province and previously served as chair of the Calligraphy Association at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. My calligraphy works are on permanent display at several locations on SJTU’s Minhang and Xuhui campuses.
