Dian Jiao
My name is Dian Jiao, and I am a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Accounting at Columbia Business School. My research broadly explores how information shapes market efficiency, with a current focus on how the information is strategically communicated by corporations and manifested by financial institutions. I employ both empirical and analytical methods in my work.
Prior to my academic endeavour, I spent two years as a quantitative researcher at Ruitian Capital, a leading hedge fund in China, where I developed systematic equity strategies using statistical methods. I hold an M.Phil in Accounting and an M.S. in Financial Engineering from Columbia University, as well as an M.A. in Finance and a B.S. in Applied Math from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Born and raised in Henan Province, the cradle of Chinese civilization with over 3,200 years of recorded history, I have a deep appreciation for calligraphy, poetry, and history. I maintain a wide-ranging interest in sports, currently focusing on bouldering, swimming, and hiking. I also enjoy strategic gaming and excel in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, where I ranked top 150 in the Americas leaderboards in 2024.
